Ordering
Can I order Amato’s online?
- Yes. Online ordering is available through Toast. Choose your preferred Amato’s location before placing your order so it is sent to the correct restaurant.
Can I order by phone?
- Yes. Call 408-246-4007 to place an order or speak with a location. Press 1 for Saratoga or press 2 for Almaden.
Do you offer dine-in and takeout?
- Yes. Both Amato’s locations offer dine-in and takeout. Online ordering is also available for customers who want to order ahead.
Can I customize my order?
- Yes. Most sandwiches can be customized with available cheeses, toppings, sauces, and add-ons. Availability and additional charges may vary by item and size.
Menu and Ingredients
What sizes do your sandwiches come in?
- Most Amato’s sandwiches are available as a 3-inch Mini, 7-inch Shorty, 12-inch Half, or 24-inch Whole. Some specialty items and sides are offered in fixed sizes.
What is The Whole?
- The Whole is Amato’s 24-inch cheesesteak, made to order and built for sharing at parties, game days, workplaces, and family meals. It is also the sandwich used for The Whole Challenge.
What cheese comes standard on a cheesesteak?
- White American is the standard cheese on an Amato’s cheesesteak. Cheese substitutions and additional cheese may be available when ordering.
What toppings are available on cheesesteaks?
- Popular options include grilled onions, mushrooms, green bell peppers, and hot cherry peppers. Additional toppings, sauces, and premium add-ons are available on eligible items.
Do you have vegetarian options?
- Yes. The Veggie Works is made with grilled onions, green bell peppers, mushrooms, and melted cheese. Because our kitchen uses shared cooking equipment, customers with dietary restrictions should speak with the restaurant before ordering.
Can sandwiches be served without bread?
- Yes. Sandwiches can be prepared without bread or served over lettuce upon request.
Do you provide allergen information?
- Customers with food allergies or dietary restrictions should contact the restaurant before ordering. Our kitchens use shared grills, fryers, preparation areas, and equipment, so we cannot guarantee that any item is completely free from a particular allergen.

Does Amato’s offer catering?
- Yes. Amato’s offers catering and group-order options for workplaces, parties, family gatherings, sporting events, and other occasions.
How far in advance should I place a catering or large order?
- Advance notice is recommended, especially for large orders, weekends, and busy event dates. Contact Amato’s directly so the team can confirm timing, quantities, and availability.
Is The Whole a good option for groups?
- Yes. The 24-inch Whole is designed for sharing and can be customized with available cheeses and toppings. Multiple Wholes can also make ordering simpler for larger groups.

About Amato’s
How long has Amato’s been in business?
- Amato’s Cheesesteaks opened in San Jose in 1997. The family restaurant tradition began earlier with Paul Amato’s Italian restaurant and pizza business near Philadelphia.
Is Amato’s family owned?
- Yes. Amato’s is a multigenerational, family-owned restaurant with two San Jose locations.
